In 1959, 27 Piggly Wiggly owners came together to form
Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company.
What began as a cooperative effort to create mass buying power quickly became a foundation for long-term growth. By working together, these independent operators gained the scale needed to compete in a changing grocery landscape. Today, PWADC continues to build on that cooperative legacy—supporting retailers with the tools, services, and expertise needed to succeed.

Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company currently serves more than 250 stores in six states, with our member stores generating over $1.7 Billion.
Based in Bessemer, Alabama, Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Company partners with independent grocers across the Southeast to deliver high-quality grocery, meat, produce, and bakery/deli products—backed by a full suite of retail, distribution, and operational services.
From advanced pricing systems and logistics to advertising support, store engineering, and three annual food shows, PWADC provides the scale, expertise, and infrastructure retailers need to compete and grow with confidence.
